Transcatheter

February 26, 2026
In this article, the authors report six-year outcomes from the Evolut Low Risk trial, which randomized 1,414 low-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis to transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) (n=730) or surgery (n=684).
February 26, 2026
In this brief report, the authors present an ex vivo bench study evaluating the impact of post-dilation strategies on Evolut FX+ transcatheter heart valves (23, 26, 29, and 34 mm). Valves were expanded in an elliptical annular model and underwent post-dilation using balloons either within or exceeding the instructions for use recommendations.

This video demonstrates a practical approach to explanting a transcatheter aortic valve implantation after previous surgical aortic valve replacement.
February 19, 2026
In this article, the authors present the three-year results of the randomized LYTEN trial comparing balloon-expandable valves (BEV; SAPIEN 3/ULTRA) and self-expanding valves (SEV; Evolut R/PRO/PRO+) for valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in failed small surgical aortic bioprostheses (≤23 mm).
February 19, 2026
In this article, the authors present a bench-to-animal-to-human proof of concept for valve-in-mechanical (ViMech) transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with failed bileaflet mechanical aortic valves. Bench testing showed disc dislodgement with balloon inflation at pressures of 2 to 4 atm, while snaring failed.
February 5, 2026
A systematic review and meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials examined five-year outcomes comparing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) vs surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in 3,094 women with aortic stenosis (1,587 TAVR, 1,507 SAVR).

This first-in-human case report describes ventriculo-coronary transcatheter outward navigation and reentry (VECTOR), a novel percutaneous aorto-coronary bypass technique to prevent coronary obstruction during transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

This video demonstrates the endovascular repair of the ascending aorta in a case of acute Stanford type A aortic dissection in a patient who was not a surgical candidate at the time of presentation. The authors discuss the operative planning considerations required for his eventual definitive open surgical repair, which became required after his course was complicated by a massive aortic pseudoaneurysm.

This case report describes a 62-year-old man with exertional dyspnea due to a massive, serpentine right coronary artery aneurysm with fistulization to the coronary sinus, causing significant left-to-right shunt and right heart dilation. Given the large size and complex anatomy, transcatheter closure was deemed unsuitable.

This video demonstrates an endoscopic approach to a post-infarction ventricular septal defect using the three-port technique.
