This video highlights a segmental anatomy operation, a key point in VATS and RATS segmentectomy procedures.
August 2, 2022
This video depicts a technique for the localization of small pulmonary lesions and sublobar resection via robotic-assisted bronchoscopic dye marking and two-port VATS left lower lobe apical segmentectomy.

Four decades ago, the very first patients were enrolled into the Lung Cancer Study Group. It was a randomized, controlled trial that compared lobectomy to limited resection for biopsy-proven T1N0 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The results of this study were published in 1995.

Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) is rapidly expanding, and new challenges should be continuously proposed regarding this technology. In effect, the community may further understand its strengths and limits, and consequently, offer better treatment to patients.

This scientific statement is a granular contribution to a major cardiovascular issue, illuminating nuances of the "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS) FDA designation. One would expect the relevant Thoracic Associations in North America and Europe to contribute to this debate.

This video presents a uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery left lower posterobasal anatomic segmentectomy S10. The segmentectomy uses the inferior approach, which is less difficult technically because it avoids the fissure dissection of the bronchovascular elements. When the fissure is incomplete, this inferior approach is the best approach.

A forty-seven-year-old woman presented multiple times with a reoccurring bronchopleural fistula and post-pneumonectomy multi-drug resistant empyema. In challenging cases like this, a multidisciplinary approach between thoracic and plastic surgery is imperative.

This video shows a robotic en bloc resection of right upper lobe, lower lobe superior segment, and parts of the middle lobe for multiple instances of cancer in the right lung with incomplete fissure.
