In this episode of the Case of the Month, thoracic surgeon and CTSNet Senior Editor Leanne Ashrafian is joined by Dr. Danielle Aronowitz, a thoracic fellow at Northwell Health, New York, USA. They present part 1 of the case “More Than Just Anxiety.” Dr. Aronowitz provides an overview of the patient’s medical history and discusses the symptoms the patient was experiencing. Then, she reviews the findings from the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head and neck and chest X-ray. These findings prompted the conduction of a Dotatate positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan and a chest computed tomography (CT) scan, and they discuss those findings as well.
In part 2 of this case study, thoracic surgeon and CTSNet Senior Editor Leanne Ashrafian and thoracic fellow Dr. Danielle Aronowitz discuss what was found. They review the preoperative planning and how the patient’s hypertension was managed. They then explore various treatment methods that were considered and the approach that was chosen. Dr. Aronowitz shares details about the equipment used during the procedure and provides an overview of the surgical steps, accompanied by footage from the case.
